Founder Gains Skills to Grow Her Media Production Company

Rachel is a graduate of the UW Certificate in Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership, led by Project Ascendance’s Christy Johnson.

“The knowledge you will gain from the course will help you take your idea and your dream to the next step.”

When Rachel Nussbaum decided to join the program, her main goal was to learn more about starting and running her own business. She had started her company, Specular, several months before enrolling. For nearly three years, Rachel has been the Creative Executive Producer at Specular, which produces commercials, corporate marketing videos, motion graphics, animation, and more.

Rachel figured that she would benefit from the course no matter what, since she didn’t have an academic background in business. A secondary goal was to meet other women entrepreneurs.

As for what ended up being the most useful part of the program, it turned out to be everything—the entire course and the relationships she made from the course. Every module in the program gave Rachel the skills and knowledge to continue building her media production company, and to potentially start something new in the future.

Rachel’s advice to other women considering the course is to go for it, because it’s inspirational to be surrounded by other like-minded women entrepreneurs, and the course will give you the knowledge to help you take your idea and your dream to the next step.
